| The Camping Trip poems

These are poems I wrote during our family's camping trip from 7/25-7/27. I was inspired by the places we went to. I was going to write a third poem, and I might still write it, but for the time being I'm too lazy. Anyway, here's what I wrote during that trip:

 The Creek

What violent explosion of earth and anger made this place?

 Rocks grow upon rocks,
 Fighting to be the tallest
 But moss ultimately wins
Taking over rock like a yellow-green cancer.

Water flows like a vein of crystal-clear blood
 Flowing through the stony battlefield
Dying in the beauty of a tiny waterfall
And entering the heaven of a calm, wet, deep pool beneath the violent falls.

 Rock, water, moss
 Jagged edges and warm tables
Level upon level, 'til you reach the bottom
 Peace at last
 No more fighting
 No more rushing.

 Water Pool

 Cold, cool pool
 So refreshing
Cooling me when I'm so hot.

 Slippery, mossy rock
 Carrying me in
 On my behind.

 Rock seat
 My slippery wet throne
Where I may watch the dogs and kids get wet.

 Waterfall
 Carrying kids
 Down like a slide
Into the whirling, frothy pool of bubbles.

 I dip my head inside
 So cold at first
 But then so nice
 So cool
 So good to me.
