THE GOAL:

ONE POEM PER WEEK

.

Wednesday, September 08, 2004

Yes, it's been a while since I wrote anything. I DO want to meet my goal, but I don't want to force anything either. I want my poetry to come naturally, because then it will be more honest and more beautiful. I think this next poem, inspired by a nice sunny summer day, is definitely honest and beautiful.
-----------------------------
Smile

Sunshine sails on a wisp of joy
Floating on your shoulder like it's the Nile
It warms you and tells a tale to your heart
Your heart tells it to your face and you smile

Blue bulge above shines deep in your eyes
You quint but, after a while,
Your eyes welcome the bright color of day
It's so bright and blue that you smile

The trees are all dancing
The grass cushions your feet
The flowers make you sneeze for a while
Then you open your eyes, and take it all in
It's all so beautiful, and you smile
